Moore's Law : Sustainable

Bad news : the Moore's law is perhaps reaching its end. And the computers around the world become very large energy consumers ( see some references in diccan.com ). Besides, integrated electronics manufacturing and disposal when obsolete are an important source of ecological nuisance (pure water consumption, polluting wastes). Then, the hope to win the ecological issues in the future by a transition from an energy based economy to a information economy seemed just wishful thinking. Digital art is an important actor on this transition from energy to information, and the artists cannot remain insenstive.
Good news. Lower dissipation circuits are on the way. And even "transient elecronics", bio-compatible and degradable is emerginc in some labs, for instance at University of Illinois, according to a post on their site.
Will that be enough ? Shall we go rapidly enough ? Let'hope... and why not contribute in energy-saving digital art...
