Unstable harmonies... by a stable artist
Alain Le Boucher has recently presented Unstable Harmonies at his Gallery (Lelia Murdoch). You can see it on You Tube" . This time perhaps a little larger, complex, and ... "square" than the precedent one, this one is faithful to the radical choices or the artist for his sculptures : the spectator must see the whole work and structure, without any hidden complexity (but for the content of the electronic circuits).
We have discussed the pros and cons of such a choice with Alain. - Pros : That makes each work its radical unicity (in contrast with the majority of digital works), and a specific kind of magic. - Cons : The microcontroller based system sets narrow limits to his creativity and to the affordable complexity of "content" for the evolution of his lights. Eventually he is rewriting his programs. Working under Linux, he wishes to free himself from a proprietary OS or platform. Then he is presently at work with PyQT4 and Designer. But he stays firm on his fundamental artistic choices concerning software/hardware combination and full transparency : a stable artist !
