Realist SF is back
July 25, 2018. Paris .
The Synapse Sequence, by Daniel Godfrey. Titan Books, 2018. Just bought
at W.H. Smith Paris, which has a permanently up to date SF line of books.
A real effort to present a realistic world where robots are widely replacing
humans, with an algorithmic logic which pushes them to look for more and more
power. Without pushing to the limits explored for instance by Asimov in I Robot,
but in the same logic. In the world of Godfrey, a central aim is to reduce the
criminality. And that leads to some unpleasant results.
At last, science-fiction writers are back to actual issues and not only on magic and fantasy.
