"1 the Road": Great Idea, Poor Result
Sept. , 2018. Paris. More
info
A book written by a car, with the help of a camera, a microphone and a neural
network. The idea is great, and able to break new ground in the yet well explored
automatic writing (see our survey).
The result is really disapointing: a succession of short paragraphs (see an
example on right) , somehow poetic indeed, but (as far as we see), without narrative
tension or character evocation. The paragraphs are illustrated by elusive pixelized
black and white images, the kind we were making in the 1980's wih dot-matrix
printers.
The "writer's writer", Ross Godwin, is young enouth to let us hope
that after this "1 The Road", some "2.... " will give a
better expression of his literary and technical creativity.
