A Morellet on sale by Crait+Muller
Dec. 4, 2017. Hotel Drouot (Paris) More info
Among the contemporary art pieces on sale we note a Morellet painting. Done by hand, but algorithmically designed: an alphabet is written on the sides of a square, then straight lines are drawn according to a given word, here "Sourdille", name of the collector.
For a generative artist of today, programming such a piece would not take long.
And it may be surprising, if not shocking, that it be priced in the sales catalog
at 20000/25000 euros.
But that's the law of Art market !
